Pre-Operative Instructions
Please ensure that your pet is fasted—no food after 12:00 AM the night before surgery. If your pet needs any oral medications the morning of surgery, you can give the medications with a very small amount of food (tablespoon). DO NOT give any medications if you are unsure whether they should be given, and bring them with you to the hospital; we can administer them if they are required.
Diabetic patients should be given ½ the dose of their normal insulin, and DO NOT feed your pet.
Diabetic patients can have a small meal in the morning with ½ of their normal dose of insulin
No fasting is required for patients that are >6mo of age (puppies/kittens)
Expect your pet to be at the hospital for the entire day; we will contact you when the procedure is complete to schedule a discharge time.
Please remember that our schedule is fluid and may change throughout the day. Emergencies may take priority and delay the treatment of scheduled patients. We do our best to keep you informed of any significant delays that may affect discharge times.
